The key idea is to implement rigorous performance and calibration tests of in situ wave measurements in an extreme ocean environment in order to quantify the occurrence of high amplitude rogue waves.
An ADCP (Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler) was deployed on 9 February 2015 in Co. Clare off the West Coast of Ireland. It will remain in the water until early May.
